HOLLER!

hey so, I don't know what we are doing this week, because I left early last week. but uhhh, I've been working on this painting, and it's too big to just bring over (4 by 5 ft). So I just wanted to post it to get some responses. I've already gotten a few from people which has been great... I started it because I was interested in what the composition was doing. I needed something big to work on, and it's been satisfying so far, but I wanted to know what it was saying to everyone. Again, it's not done, but I think you all have a good idea of how it will turn out as you are familiar with my other work. :) Also, please excuse the glare in the upper right. it was awful trying to get a decent photo of this.

  1. also, didn't realize this before but the upper left side has a few more color and value changes than the photo is showing. There are figures in the back that you can make out but they are still very dark.

  2. It's hard to tell from last time I saw it, but it definitely looks like it's coming along. It seems like it's too busy for a moment, but then the mirror acts for a nice rest. I know the photo doesn't have the greatest detail, but it seems like the forms look more flattened and blocked than the roundness they've had in other paintings. Maybe that's something to take a look at?

Again, I love the cramped active space and the ambiguity of everyone.

  3. Wait, that's not a mirror, is it? I was wondering why nothing matched up, haha.

  4. haha yeah that's not a mirror.... yeah it's been a struggle to get the forms right and still keep the ones in the background in the background. I took a better photo and it's more done now so I'll post that soonish.
